We often forget the beauty of the starkness winter brings to the coastal regions. Parking wasnt easy but views and beach were worth it.

This harbor is an excellent location if you're looking for a quiet harbor -- away from big cities and pollution -- and want to meetup with friends there.Fishing is supposed to be good -- and you will see fishing boats nearby -- but the real appeal is the serenity of the location and its convenience (if you have land transportation) to beaches, as well as Rye and Portsmouth.Bring a camera. This can be a very photogenic location. Several great seafood restaurants are within walking distance, too. The formal, state park area has parking and some facilities. In-season and during daytime hours, you'll (or visiting friends) will pay a fee if they bring a car. (You'll find a few small, unpaved, and free parking areas up the road and around the bend, but they're usually full during peak hours.)Nearby, visitors can enjoy lovely, white sand beaches (some good for surfing), great seafood, nature walks, and everything you love about the New England seacoast.

Lots to do here. I like the fireworks cruises that bring you down toward Hampton Beach and you miss all the traffic later on. There are whale watches and fishing excursions and a nice historic ride to the local islands complete with local ghost stories.

Rye Harbor State Park was the perfect place for our beautiful outdoor, beach themed wedding. We loved the large, flat, open grassy area and the close proximity to the water. No electricity meant we had to bring a generator but we set it up a little ways away from the tent and we never heard it. One important point is that Google Maps places the park on the wrong side of the road, making the small wooden sign easy to miss!

I am attracted to a jetty. The Rye Harbor area is an opportunity to enjoy a small state park, 300d of ocean view. I have done it all here, read a book, ate my lunch, and my favorite is fishing from the jetty. A word of caution, this is NOT a kids playground. The jetty is for real and the water is deep and cold. This nature at its best and needs to be respected.

Great harbor views of boats and sailboats. Long rock cliff to climb and walk out on. Bathrooms open during season but closed by October.

We love to pack a picnic and head for this spot! With a beach chair over my shoulder, a book under my arm and a tote bag with my dinner, I head for the serenity and beauty of the NH coast! Great place for a wedding reception or family party!

Just too crowded and hard to find parking...Might have been an ok place to walk around and see the sights if we could have found a reasonably priced place (or any place) to park.

The park is located on a spit of land that abuts the opening to Rye Harbor; from here you can watch the boats coming & going or just enjoy the crashing of the surf along the shore. It is part of the NH State Parks, they have thoughtfully placed some picnic tables and built a small shade cover to protect from the sun's rays. The park is remotely located from the noisy centers to the north (Portsmouth) & south (Hampton Beach). On this recent and many of the other times we visited there were very few people around. Bring a book, a picnic lunch and just escape the world around you, we did and will continue to do so.

Took a friend on a whale watch out of this area. It was a wonderful boat ride, not too many whales, but the ride was fun

The park is very small and not noted for any facilities, but it's a wonderful spot from which to watch the ocean on three sides, especially when the weather is picking up.

The best of New England. Rocky coastline. White clapboard houses. Sailboats. Come for the morning or spend the day. An especially pretty and protected place to paint or picnic

Great little place to stop and have a walk or lunch,

Beautiful rocky coastline, tons of tidepool fun, along with beautiful beaches make this scenic state park a great destination.

This is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the NH seacoast. If you don't require sandy beach but love being on the ocean, spend some time at this State Park. Not a lot of parking but plenty of grassy area to spread out and find your spot. Enjoy the jetty and watch the boats go in and out of the Harbor. Bring a picnic, spend the day. Also great place to hold a family reunion or a wedding! Awesome.
