The Museum is free and very informative. There are also hikes. In June they have a reenactment of the battle of Monmouth. They also have picnic facilities and a small play ground. They are also opened on Sunday. It's a nice thing to do on a cold Sunday (the museum)

Considering the significance of this major battle, you would have expected a more comprehensive display. All you see is a field, a ravine and a creek with a single placard explaining one portion of the battle. There is nothing outside the visitor center to give a visitor any sense of the flow of battle. I arrived at 8am, just as the park was opening and passed some entry gates which may at some warmer time of year, collect fees for entrance to the park. For my visit, however, a "no charge" sign was conspicuously posted. I proceeded to the visitor center and was dumbfounded to find that it didn't open until 9. Why open a park and not the visitor center, particularly when there is little to see outside the center? I peered through the windows and could see a fair amount of the battle information display and I assume that the battle is well explained inside. I didn't wait an hour to find out. All in all, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this site. If you are in the area and can get in free, go ahead a take a peek in the visitor center.

This park has 2 locations (not connected), 3 if you consider the site of the courthouse in Freehold where the monument is.At the main site, the visitor center is very interesting, very educational and interactive. The battleground could offer more... a little like Saratoga Battlefield does (in NY State)... with displays about the battle as you walk or drive. We spent about half hour in the visitor center and walk around in the park a little because it was a beautiful autumn day. Do not plan more than 1 or 2 hours here.If your interested in the Revolutionary war... this is a site interesting for you. There were people (park staff ?) working in the visitor center... they never got up there chairs to greet any visitor and offer some information or recommendation about visiting the park... we were on our own :( ... a lot to learn from National Parks staff !

The first time I came here I was looking for "geocaches" and the last time was after the new visitor center center was complete.... If you are interested in the American Revolution, you should visit the new visitor center. See all the exhibits and watch the show. If your unimpressed, I would be surprised. When the show is over spend more time looking at the battleground... If there was one thing that I would change it was the orientation of Thomas-Antoine_de_Mauduit_du_Plessis cannon on Combs Hill. It, the cannon, should be pointing at where the British troops positioned.

This place is own by ghost... Noones go there..The park is cute but in NJ families do not use this humongous park. I am care to be alone there with my kids, no security , noone around maybe a person walking the dog but thats all. What a waste of location. NJ please make family parks like New York.... visible to people!

Good food anytime, but on Mondays Burger(thick-juicy ones) are a special value. Great selection of beer and Flatscreens in the men's bathroom...yikes...I gues it has it all.

This has always been a favorite place to visit, as we live nearby. The trails and general vistas are beautiful. The visitor center is only a year old, and has extensive info on the key Revolutionary battle which took place here. Be sure to see the video also. I am amazed that more people don't know about this park.

Tis museum / Visitor Center is well done and very informative with lots of maps, artifacts, etc. to help understand the significance of the battle during the Revolutionary War.

They have annual battle of Monmouth reenactment which is a spectacle. There is also an onsite museum.

We spent a Sunday afternoon under a tree having a picnic and roaming the trails. Most trails are not marked but there are maps in the welcome center. You can also walk the corn fields behind the welcome center.

I have grown to love going to Monmouth Battlefield Park over the past year. I go at least once a week, more if I can. I have hiked along most of the trails in the park - through the fields and through the woods. The first time I hiked along the Washington Trail I was awed by what had transpired along this trail and have been back many times since. If you are a first-time visitor make sure you go to the Visitor Center and get a park map. There are also pamphlets mapping out self-guided tours that are worth exploring. Last but certainly not least, the staff are phenomenal. Definitely worth your time! The only thing you really have to be aware of are ticks, especially if you are on the battlefield on Sutfin Farm.

One park employee indicated that the park was approx 3 miles. It is very pretty and well maintained. The visitor's center has recently been updated with approx 30 min of self-guided exhibits to describe the fighting that occurred here. In addition, there is Craig House on the grounds. When i went, the docent was very knowledgable and friendly,It is a pretty park with limited walking trails. If you are looking for history, expect to spend less than an hour.

be sure to watch the video about the battle - has a great ending - this is a great park something you would think was a National Park instead of a state park

Pretty park, especially in the fall! Important historic site with nice wooded hiking paths. Definitely worth a quick visit of in the area.

It is a nice park perfect for a peaceful stroll through the woods. They have a couple picnic areas that are often used which is good. They also have self guided tours and a visitors center with some educational exhibits. It would be nice if they have more guided events. It is much more interesting to walk around with someone who knows the fields and explains things with more passion than a recording and they can answer questions. You're not limited to the information provided. I went on a guided tour once there and it was very fun and interesting. I dont remember how i found out about the tour but they sure dont advertise them very well. Perhaps i'm just not looking in the right places but I would like to attend future tours of other parts of the battlefield. They really should advertise events more. They often advertise dog shows but the two times I attempted to see one they were canceled at the last minute. The park is pet friendly but dont venture too close to the apple orchards especially during apple picking season as their employee's will run over and yell about your pet. Even though we were on a tour and clearly not trying to get into the orchards the path took us along the outside of the orchard and several employees stop to demand we take the dog away even with us trying to show them we were a part of a tour of the battlefield. Even the 15 other people on the tour tried to explain this to them. Eventually we just kept walking and smiled and ignored them.Overall its a nice, quiet park, good for peaceful strolls more than full on hiking.
