This is a small museum with a great Asian collection, emphasizing unique carved sculpture from Cambodia. You would not expect to find this collection in Amarillo, but there it is. Also of note is its American art and contemporary art. The building is by Edward Durell Stone in 1972. It's plain but shows off the art rather well. It's about the best thing to see in Amarillo.

This museum is small, but has a very nice collection of art of varying types. There were quite a number of unusual art pieces that used non traditional media which made them very interesting. The museum has no fee, plenty of parking, is in a good location, and is a place well worth taking an hour or two to visit.

They have four O'Keeffes--wouldn't you think they would rotate them so one is always on view? Nice building, but the objects we came to see (Japanese wood block prints in addition to the O'Keeffes) were not on display.

I guess not being an art aficionado, maybe I'm not smart enough to figure out how to get in the place right a way. The entrance is not readily apparent, and we went in the doors on the east side which take you down into the lowest level. There is no signs saying "go upstairs" to the receptionist. Anyway, we enjoyed it. They had a wonderful collection of Asian sculptures, Afghan weaving, and a lot of really cool photography. Among a lot of other items too numerous to mention. It would be a great place for a guy to take a girl on a date and impress her with his sensitive qualities. It is free, and it takes an hour or two to really look it over.

Located on a university campus this art museum was a nice surprise in amarillo Texas. Admission is free. Most of the items on display were loaned o the museum. First floor currently has modern art display from a well known artist. The second floor consists of an Asian art collection, mostly from the 1800 but still with many older pieces some dating back to BC. The lower floor housed several large tapestries of Asian orgin.

A museum this nice is rare for a small college campus to host. There are ongoing exhibits featuring local, regional and worldwide works of art. If you are looking for a fun night out, check to see what is going on at this museum; they host lectures and other fun activities throughout the year. It also is a lovely space available for private events.

Small museum on the site of Amarillo College with rotating exhibits and a small permanent collection. Very well displayed and not too busy (when we were there). Definitely worth the time if you are in the area

I enjoyed this lovely small museam on a Saturday afternoon. At that time of my visit, they had two floors that were displaying art. Usually there is an additional floor, but it seems they had just had some type of exhibit and it had ended, therefore the 3rd floor was empty. The library on the top floor is a great place to sit and relax.

A great permanent collection includes a big Chinese collection of sculptures and paintings donated by a local neurosurgeon . Always features an interesting traveling exhibit. A beautiful building located on the campus of Amarillo College.

The powers that be do a masterful job at securing local artists as well as the world renown to show in our home town jewel.

Very nice art museum for a city the size of amarillo. We went to a very intersting Art show of items made of recycled materials. Quite inventive and fu.

2 floors have permanent exhibits, middle/main floor exhibit changes with enough frequency that even locals can see something new from time to time...impressive variety for a relatively small town. Nice place to spend an hour or two...and its free (donation box shouldn't be overlooked though)

The place was quite small..I was able to finish all the exhibits in about 20-30 minutes. There were many interesting statues and protraits. Also a nice section for modern art. Of course not comparable to nyc's moma... but still a nice place to see in amarillo. Best part free admission! Just remember to place a donation! :-)

This free museum is a nice way to spend a relaxing hour or two. Galleries on three different levels provide a nice mix of items from the permanent collection (Asian art, in particular) and special exhibits. It's not a large facility, and a visit might be better suited for anyone already in Amarillo for a few days instead of making it the centerpiece of your trip to the city.

I took my two young kids here for their first museum experience. It was free and we were the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon. The current exhibits were fun and different. Everyone had a great time.
