We have been in here few times already. The kids love the petting zoo and the homemade cheese is to die for. The parking is spacious . There's a little play area with pinic tables. Nice for a day out with the family. Plenty of animals to see and pet. From chickens, horses, donkeys, camel, bulls, llamas, cows, birds, peacocks, goats and more..... is beautiful. Also a small pound for fishing and boat pedaling. I think there's a small fee for fishing , so ask the associates in the store. Kids can purchase corn from the machine and feed the animals. The view of the pound is one of my favorites. Free admission so you can't go wrong.

I had clearly heard the NOAA forecast of gale-force winds beginning at (11:00) Saturday, 26APR2014. Now, there is little that I dislike more than pedaling into wind, especially high wind, but I figured a quick am 33mile/55km pedal to San Eli was very doable. And it certainly was--until the long gear cable on my Doublevision gave way while pedaling West on Glorietta Road. Fortunately, I was close to this super place with its wide porch. After receiving the pergra from assistant manager Angel, I parked my disabled machine on the Western edge and spent the next 1.5 hours replacing the cable.(I'm very pleased to be carrying ample tools & parts for just this kind of emergency, though it makes for a rather heavier bicycle; so many others have ridiculed me for not being light--and fragile--like them, but they would have been paralyzed if in my situation. I'll give them credit for being able to repair the inevitable flat tire, but they'll not be able to do more!) I was so pleased and grateful to have this wonderful site that I bought a good sized chunk of local Asadero cheese and whole wheat tortillas for that future quesadilla. Due to the rising winds, I didn't spend extra time visiting the exotic animal/petting zoo and got back underway. Another aspect of this delightful stop is that it will be a part of the new incorporated San Eli, no longer threatened with being swallowed up by a neighboring, turbulent community. Viva Licon Dairy! Viva San Eli!

It's delicious. If you're used to big city petting zoos, you'll be disappointed but for the area, it's nice. Go for the cheese though. We've been going since before the petting zoo was around, when it was just a dairy. We read about them in Texas Monthly years ago & have been going ever since. The quality has remained outstanding & the taste has been consistently superb. Do yourself a favor & buy the cheese.

What a fun Sunday afternoon activity! Take the kids and go see the variety of animals. Don't miss buying the incredibly delicious azadero cheese! I have eaten azadero before, but this is so amazing! If you go before noon you can get queso fresca that is fabulous. They also sell whey and butter. Take a cooler with you so you don't have to worry about anything going bad in the heat on the drive home. The tortilla chips and corn tortillas are very good as well. It is easy to get to and a fun little drive through San Elizario. We also stopped by the mission where they have their Sunday Festival and there were vendor booths, all kinds of food, music and beer. What a nice afternoon we had in San Eli.

Many years ago, we travelled to this wonderful farm for the kid-friendly animals and home-made cheese. It is extremely close to Old Mexico, and, in fact, before the Rio Bravo/Rio Grande had altered it's course, was in that fine country. However, the river has long since been ditched, diked, and controlled into the intermittent stream/international boundary and Licon Dairy has long been a part of the USA. It is Southeast of El PasoTX proper, on Glorietta Road between Socorro Road and Historic San Elizario. Nowadays, I frequently pass it when pedaling to or from San Eli. I hope it remains a vibrant farm--the rural area is quickly becoming subdivided!

My family loves animals, and had a great time visiting the petting zoo, yes it is a little run down, but it is also free and my family loved being able to go, and just enjoy ourselves, I would definitely recommend it for children

The best asaderos you will ever eat! These salty, soft cheese pancakes are delectable and delicious. I have been going here for years and my wife and kids love it.

I love the Licon Dairy cheese and have been there many times. as of yet I have not found better Asadero cheese anywhere. Aside from the cheese, there is a decent petting zoo as a bonus.

Licon Dairy has been around for ages. It is a very well known location where locals have always visited to purchase their legendary Asadero cheese. The dairy is located approximately ten to fifteen minutes from the El Paso city limits and is really easy to find. The dairy has a very small fishing pond and a "petting zoo" along with various other animal enclosures. I would recommend visiting the dairy and "zoo" at least once. The "zoo" is really not all that exciting and some of the enclosures are very run down. Some of the kids in our group even called it "ghetto". They have a lot of birds and many of those birds look like they had seen better days. I am not a fan of birds so that really narrowed down the animal choices. The "zoo" is free so I guess you really can't complain. Not sure if my tastes have changed or if the Asadero recipe has changed but this batch of Asaderos I purchased just weren't as good as I remember. Sadly, I don't think I will be returning since many of the local El Paso markets sell Asadero that is just as good or even better.
