I liked the man made trails and how they wove in and out of the trees. The day I went there it had recently rained- not good for walking hiking or even biking for that matter. Nice place to have a picnic. Good for mellow ride with the less experienced girl friend.

As a avid hiker this lollipop trail is worth the visit. Well maintained throughout the year, for the most part the mountain bikers are polite and respectful. Around seven miles overall with plenty of shortcuts leading back to parking lots. Recommend to arrive early to beat the crowds.

This was a nice surprice. Well maintained trails in a large park. Nice view, but hard to find. If you like trail running or biking this is an excellent spot

With the drought not as green as usual and many water spots are dried out but still a great place to hike and bike and tons of eating options nearby

This park is a hidden gem. I have lived in McKinney for several years and stumbled upon it by accident. You truly feel like you are transported to another place - there are hills, nature trails, creeks, campsites and wildflowers. It's worth the trip!

Please keep your head up while riding on the trail, there are some spots that will require skills with quick turns, log jumps, and it will knock your breath away. GREAT trail.Camping permits are granted by the Community Center, and is a quiet park.

One of the better mountain bike mile loops in the metroplex. Was better, but man made modifications have been made to make it more a universal trail and a bit easier. Erwin was more technical single track than it is now but has a few challenges and has some cardio moments.Places in the trail that are more challenging are named such as "No Brakes", "Bank-Shot", "Cadillac Dip", "The Dips"and "Screaming Drop". Phase three has a few bridges and and man made challenges. Watch out for snakes, hikers, Boy Scouts and family campers and share the trail.7.5 mile loop

My husband and I love to bike here at the weekends, he does the Trails and loves them. I just ride around the pard and enjoy taking in the beautiful surroundings and nature. Very well maintained for, biking, hiking or camping. Great place to go, we love that we live 5 minutes down the road from it.

The trail at Erwin Park is neither flat nor boring. It's not like riding in the Rockies, but for North Texas, it's a nice single-track, maybe one of the better ones I've ridden. Try riding a few days after a good rain for some serious fording across the streams. And for a more challenging course, turn left. The "difficult" section is down the left of the fork over the bridge.Overnight camping is available, and it's cheap. And there are beautiful, wide open spaces for just enjoying the fresh air or flying a kite.I give it five stars because this park is vast, and in some places it looks untouched and wild. And yet, you are five minutes from civilization.

Don't listen to the little weeny wieners, knocking the place because it is "hot". This is Texas moron, it's the plains in summer, what do you expect? If you can't hack it, move.I am from Arizona & while this isn't the great mountainous region of the Southwest or even Big Bend, the Chihuahuan or the Trans-Pecos, it is a nice area, wooded with some nice challenging technical single trails. There is riding for all levels from beginner to pro-am & beyond & it's close to home for many. If you want to meet new people & learn from some really great riders, Cadence Cyclery hosts a Thursday evening ride. Since sunset isn't until 8:30 in the summer, you can enjoy the trails for a few hours after work. The Cadence ride is awesome & Chad, the owner of Cadence, tears the trail up at an amazing pace. Hit up Cadence Cyclery's calendar & come on out for a great time.

If you are into off-road bicycling then when you are in the area look this place up.It's not Moab but still a great place to ride. It has both technical and beginner trails and plenty of shade. Restrooms and water are both available as well.

Erwin park is nestled up in the northwest area of McKinney and we use it exclusively for mountain biking. When the temperature is below 95F, this park is very nice due to the combination of cool, shady riding in the woods and sunny, open field-traverses. When the mercury gets up past 95F, it's best to ride this trail early morning or late evening. The most challenging obstacles riding here are large roots, especially on climbs. If you are a hiker/jogger the same obstacles hold true. The climbs are not excessive and the trails are not very technical. The most difficult section of this park is one, single steep climb on stone blocks. Overall this trail is mid-intermediate only because of the roots and some mild climbs that could be challenging for new riders or those not in great shape yet. The trails are fairly well marked except towards the end where instinct will try and lead you off of the trail and onto the paved roads. The trail end is a bit farther than it appears. If you remain on the trail and not follow the urge to exit the woods prematurely, the trail will return you to the trail head. The last 2 miles could be better marked, especially if exit signs with arrows were installed. There are picnic and tent camping areas. I do not recall restrooms.

Erwin Park in McKinney is a nice place to spend a few hours. It has bike trails and plenty of picnic tables. You can also go for a walk or jog along the road. The bathrooms need to be maintained; my wife said there were no doors on the stalls. And some of the picnic tables are in disrepair; for instance, the first one we used only had seating on one side because the other side was missing. There are a couple of playgrounds for the children. You can also camp there overnight but there is no water or electricity hookup, just some grills. It's a nice place but it could be even better if they fix it up a bit.

Hike with the wife and kids, nothing to difficult and great place for the kids to explore. Bike with with buddies. Couple difficult spots (keep elbows in) but great workout.
