The birthplace of the nation's 34th President, Dwight Eisenhower.

The future West Point grad, commander of allied forces and president of the United States was born in 1890 in this 1300 square foot wood frame house. No running water, no electricity, no indoor plumbing. It sat right next to the railroad tracks, which was convenient because father Eisenhower worked for the railroad. It's not quite a backwoods Honest Abe-type one-room log cabin, but close enough — just an unassuming little house for an average family. It's important now only because Ike was born there. But Ike was one of the most important Americans of the twentieth century, so this little house is worth a visit. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. There is a little two room 'museum' on the grounds with lots of interesting photographs. And the statue of Eisenhower is an appropriate and memorable tribute. I especially like the was the sculptor showed Ike in his general's uniform but without a hat.

My husband and I visited the Eisenhower Birthplace Historical Park on October 11th and observed part of Eisenhower's Birthday celebration. There were handsome and polite young men dressed in World War II military uniforms as well as well-preserved WWII vehicles and weapons. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed visiting it immensely. We would highly recommend a quick stop here!

Begin in the visitor center with a film and collection of photos and memorabilia. Walk across the street to the white frame house his parents were renting when he was born. Enjoyed the visit.

It seems to be a little know fact that Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Dennison TX, most just think of him as a Kansas guy. A little museum with lots of historical facts. The house can be toured but keep in mind while it's furnished similar to the way it would have been when the Eisenhower's lived there, it's not their furniture.

Grounds were beautiful for picnic lunch. Signage was well done and exhibits nicely displayed. House tour was interesting. Fun and educational.

We visited Ike's birthplace in Denison, Texas and the movie, museum and tour were all excellent. Our guide was very well informed and it was such a joy to see homage paid to a wonderful man. There's a small museum and it brought back memories seeing all the newspaper headlines, the photos of Ike and the "I like IKE" buttons we all wore back in the day. Wonderful place to stop and spend a little time!

It's a cool little place, even though it wasn't very big in Ike's life. My tour guide was great! Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

The Eisenhower Birthplace State Historical Site is the actual birthplace home of Ike, which is the main benefit of this attraction. Many birthplace sites are just replicas or neighbor's houses, but this home is the actual birthplace. There is also a small but nice gift shop as well as a great statue of Ike. However, the information and tour itself just isn't that interesting. Since Ike moved to Kansas before he was two years old, the information here covers the lives of his parents and older siblings more than it does him. This information just isn't that interesting.

We checked the birthplace website to see when the facility was open. It listed visiting hours from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday. We arrived at approximately 11 am on a Wednesday and there was no one in the area. The visitor center was a run down home with a wooden plaque on the wall that indicated that this was the building. There was a light on but no one appeared to be present. The museum was dark and definitely not open. We drove by the home and it was also not open. From the outside it looked like it had been well kept. We enjoyed stopping by the statue of Ike and read the inscriptions on the base. This was the only thing worth seeing during our visit.

Although President Eisenhower didn't live in Denison for very long, I thought it was a wonderful tribute that the city purchased his birth home and maintain it as a very humble but important part of history. The house and property is kept in splendid condition and there is a very nice statue outside. I am really glad I stopped by.

We had stayed at a nearby Corp of Engineer park and wanted something to do. Denison was just down the street so we stumbled on to this Eisenhower place by chance...there was a road sign. The small museum in a period house was kind of interesting with photos etc. You can't drive to the birthplace house per se, but it is only a short walk. We didn't pay to go inside the house so it was just an OK place to visit....just interesting.

My wife and I visited the house that Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in. The home has been furnished with items that are from that period of time, but none of the items were possessions of the Eisenhowers. To view the inside of the home, you have to go on one of the scheduled tours. One of the tours starts at 11:30 AM. If you have time to pass before the tour, you can view Ike items and watch a short film in the visitor center. Near the home, there is a larger than life statue of Eisenhower from his time as the Supreme Allied Commander during WWII.This attraction is neat to visit if you are in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to Denison. The admission price is $4 a person. This attraction seems to be the claim to fame of the town. Should you have any questions about this review, feel free to send me a message.
