Our wedding experience can be summed up by one word: incompetence. We were having our wedding in late October. They typically have weddings at 6:00 after the winery is closed. With our wedding being in late October the sun sets at 6. They changed the time to 5:00 and would close the winery early for us. At least that is what we were originally told. A week before our wedding they were asking if we could change our time to 6:00. Remember this is 2 weeks before the wedding, invitations had been sent out months ago. Coordination with all the venders had been finalized, there is no way we could move our wedding to 6, plus it would mean we would be getting married in the dark. The owner would never clarify that the venue would be closed to the public even after we showed him proof this is what we were guaranteed by Mount Pleasant.Unfortunately I have to summarize this middle section due to lack of space: drunk patrons walking through our wedding, beers and appetizers paid for were not served, completely disorganized and messy. In the end, Mount Pleasant is a beautiful location, but they did not follow their contract that they had with us. The owner chose to keep the venue open for the concert instead of honoring Mount Pleasant's guarantee that the venue would be closed to the public. The wedding coordinator is supposed to make sure everything goes smoothly and not constantly nag the bride and groom during the event. It was not as relaxing as we hoped for, hopefully the guests still had a good time while we were busy answering questions for the 5th time. I called the owner to explain the numerous problems we had during our wedding - he took a list of the problems and claimed he would call me back after talking with his staff. He never called back and we never got so much as an apology. The problems with this venue start at the top and go all the way to the bottom.

One of the farthest drives from St. Louis but worth it.We were at MP on Saturday after Thanksgiving and there was only a few people there, which I found odd being as it was 73 degrees outside and a lovely sunny day.The wine tastings are all mostly of the dry variety and comparably priced, although we opted out of tasting any. The facility is very nice and offers a lot of room for large groups to gather in a scenic venue. The buildings have been painted a warm pumpkin color and the property is well layed out. They offer abundant outdoor seating and an over abundant indoor seating area which would be perfect for receptions.I've enjoyed this place in the past with birthdays, anniversaries, etc and would encourage you to go check it out. The scenery is lovely and the grounds well appointed. Cheers!Jilbere

We used to go to Mt. Pleasant years ago and loved it. Now they only serve dry wine and are quite snobby. Would not recommend this winery.

Have always loved this place. Made a day of wandering through Washington, MO and then on to the winery. We visited on a Monday in Oct, the cafe was out if most things but we still had a nice lunch on the deck after tasting all the great MO wines. Recommend this if you like wine and quaint towns!

My husband and I were married here last weekend and cannot say enough good things about the experience. The coordinator, Whitney Brickner, is absolutely incredible to work with!! She is professional and organized, and really went above and beyond to make sure that everything ran smoothly for us. We received so many compliments on the venue, food, and overall experience. Would highly recommend Mount Pleasant to anyone! Thanks for helping to make our day perfect, Whitney!

With a stunning location, this winery was established in 1859 by two brothers from Germany, George and Frederick Muench. The wine cellars, made of local limestone and wood, from from 1881 and now are used to age their wines and port. After Prohibition in 1920, the winery was forced to close and the vineyards set on fire. It was re-opened in 1966 by the Dressel family. Chuck Dressel runs it today. Having know his Mother for several years, I was pleased to meet him and have him show me the wine cellars. I tasted their Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Norton, rich with fruits and spice.. I tried Norton for the first time and enjoyed it.The Appellation Cafe is a great spot for lunch overlooking the rolling hills above the river. This was my first time in the area, despite being from the state and having lived in St. Louis. I would definitely go back.

My husband and I were married at Mount Pleasant on August 30th. Whitney Brickner was amazing to work with! She was hired two weeks before our wedding which sent me into a panic. She was not only professional, but incredibly organized and helpful. She definitely went above and beyond. The entire staff made our day extra special and were so sweet! Whitney will definitely make Mount Pleasant the ultimate wedding venue. If I could do it all over again I would not change a thing. Thanks for making our day perfect and error-free!

I participated in the Strawberry Festival yesterday and had a blast. The strawberry chicken salad was delicious, the music of the Ralph Butler Band was terrific and the steady flow of customers in my booth made the day fly by. We will definitely be back.

We have been going with our friends from KC every year for the past 15+ years. We even bring our kids. You will spend a lot on their wines but they are good. The food is just OK, but add in the view and you have a great time. They do most things right, as we have been going back for many years. The place does get crowed at times but over all I would recommend it for a laid back Saturday.

Visited this winery for their Mother's Day Brunch. For $40 per person you would expect a nice meal, right? NOT SO at this place! Extremely disappointed with the quality of the food as well as the staff. Dry overcooked egg casserole, freezer tasting waffles, coffee that was barely drinkable just to give you an idea of the fine dining experience! We were charged an additional $8 for a mimosa, When taking our drink order, the staff didn't bother to inform us that it was not included in the $40 charge. Then the highlight was when they attempted to DOUBLE charge us for the mimosas due to THEIR lack of communication(and it wasn't like they were too swamped to keep track of this with their two other tables of customers in the whole place).Seriously doubt this place could still be in business next Mother's Day, but in case they are, DO NOT be deceived! Guaranteed disappointment is what's on the menu here!!!

Good times with good friends and this place. I don't think we could have picked a better day to patronize this place. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the end of September. The drive to the winery is a beautiful, windy drive. Long but worth it. This place closes @ 5pm on Sunday, so get there early. It was a band playing on the patio and a good crowd in attendance. The peoplethat work there are nice and helpful as well. The only blemish of this place is how pricey the bottles are. But they have one that is equivalent to a pinot grigio that is by far superior than their other white wines according to the party I came with. We loved that particular one. Bit bottles were $22 and up. But this place has a good lookout point of the country side of Missouri, a good shady patio, a band playing, and a good atmosphere. Montell is the only other one that compares to me.

Fun place for a quick getaway! Overpriced, but lots of space! The music is enjoyable and there is a great, cozy cottage you can book that is walking distance!

Of the 5 wineries we visited this was the only one that charged for sampling and their prices on bottles were higher then others

This was an ideal adventure for a Saturday afternoon. Put the top down on the old Mustang, drove out from St. Louis across beautiful Hwy 94...farms, old barns, lots of green. It was a trip back in time. At the winery we had lunch on the patio. Each Saturday they have a different band or solo performer. So we ate and enjoyed the music for a while. They also have wine tasting and exhibits on wine production. Then another beautiful trip back home. If you're a serious wine person there are several other wineries in the area you can try while you're there.

A great winery to spend an afternoon (My wife enjoyed the bubbly and I enjoyed the Norton). The property is well maintained and has great views.
