Children of all ages will enjoy a walk through Call of the Wild. It's been there for decades and is family owned and operated. I can remember my grandparents taking me there when I was young. Perfect stop for families with children who like to look at and learn about animals (note that all the animals are taxidermied).

Seeing all the animals was very interesting. Even though we live in the country, there were MANY different species that we just don't have in our area. The short little movie was done very well and interesting even for adults. Souvenir shop had many different things to choose from with a wide price range.

I have been by this place a million times while traveling north. Never have I stopped there. As a kid, there was no way my parents would stop at a "typical tourist" place. This time, my friend insisted that I at least see their gift shop. Well guess what? This gift shop was not typical at all. They had wonderful gifts, memorabilia, clothing, etc. It was NOT the same old same old. There are a lot of tourist places on the way north on I-75 but this one BY FAR was the best one I have visited. I did not go into the museum but have been told that it has been updated. I will stop there again-no problem. There is NO fee for the gift shop.

This is a family friendly attraction in Gaylord that won't break the bank. Admission is reasonable as are the gift shop prices. Our two granddaughters won the coloring contest and received "Webkins" as a prize. Many of the mounts have been replaced in recent years, giving the museum a fresh look. Great place to go on a rainy day.

The museum was very informative with a lot of different animals on display. We really liked being able to listen to some of the animals sounds that they make. For a family of 6 it seemed a bit expensive to have to pay for each individual person. A family rate maxing out at $20 would have been more acceptable. We paid closer to $30 and because of that, we were a little disappointed. The gift shop had a lot of unique gifts that were priced right. If I went again, I would just go to the gift shop and skip the museum.

and fun for adults also. A huge taxidermy collection of northern animals. Also good western wear, a go-kart track, and miniature golf! What more could you want?

My family and I stopped in on our way to the UP because it was something my husband had done as a child and my son and I had never been. It was interesting to learn about the animals in the museum.I did think it was strange that a worker came up to me and took a shirt right out of my arms that I had been carrying around. I was thinking about buying it and was waiting to show my husband. She claimed she would hold it at the desk so I wouldn't have to carry it around. Before I could say anything she was gone. I watched and did not see them do this to anyone else. I guess I looked like a common criminal or something. I have never and would never steal anything. Needless to say we left without buying a thing. I found the Minnetonka shoes I was looking at and a shirt for a lot cheaper the further north we went. Not sure I will return.

We also go when we are in town. Our boys love seeing the animals. There is also a great mini-golf place right next door.

My family went Up North almost every year when I was growing up. The Call of the Wild was ALWAYS our go-to spot on the way to the bridge. The restrooms were always clean, we loved the museum, we often bought our Minnetonka moccasins here, we ate a picnic lunch on the tables outside and I don't think we ever left without each of us picking out a brick of fudge. Now that we are older and my sister has children of her own, we still take the annual trip from Michigan's thumb where we live, to the U.P., and we never miss out on The Call of the Wild. It's such a fantastic feeling to watch my nephews and niece enjoy and make memories doing the same things we used to do. You won't regret stopping in. I recommend it 100 times over. And i wish you and your family happy memories made here.

The museum offers an interesting lesson on the history of our region. The kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt. The adults found lots to shop for, from fine boots and moccasins to Gaylord souvenirs. The fudge is delicious! The miniature golf and go carts were fun for all.

Indoor food with an extensive gift store to boot (pun intended). A museum for the kids and fudge for the parents is what we found that we enjoyed. Outside my grand kids loved the miniature golf and my wife I had had a blast on the go carts. We will be back.

kids rode the go carts and we picked up some souvenirs from the trip. Didn't do the museum tour. Seemed expensive for what it was.

We are a young family with kids under 10 and both the boys and the girl loved this place. This attraction is very close to an elk park and looks small from the outside. The curator is very helpful and pointed out some neat things that an experience eye might notice....well worth the admission price.
