Great experience especially with your children. Ask one of the friendly guides to take you around. Often they have served on an LST. This is a great experience to see the inside of a warship like those made on the Evansville riverfront during WWII.

The volunteers really enhance the experience. They were very knowledgeable about the ship and WWII in general. The fact that LST ships were built in Evansville makes it even more interesting. I knew about LSTs and their role in the war but I was surprised at how large the ship was when we toured it.

My husband and I toured the LST. My Uncle was on a LST during WWII. It is a part of our history, they were built here. Many of us had family that worked here during the war. My Mother and her sister all worked here My Mother worked where they made bullets. Aunts worked where they made airplanes. I'm very proud that we have the LST here. My husband is a Navy vet as is his brothers.

Very historic. Learned a lot about the manufacturing of the vessel and it's importance in the war. I was amazed how big the ship is and it's valuable assistance in the war efforts. It was a great lesson in history.

The LST 325 is a WWll Navy ship that was used during the war to land battle ready tanks and men to the beach. It was designed to be able to drop a ramp through open Bow Doors and because it was a flat bottom vessel, it could get right up to the beach to drop it's cargo of much needed men and equipment. LST 325 was involved with the D Day invasion of Normandy. Evansville made 162 of these ships however, the 325 was built in Philadelphia. It is a fully operational ship that travels under it's own power to various cities promoting it's history and giving the opportunity for the public to take tours and learn more about it. The tours are usually guided by trained guides who are able to answer questions about it's operation. It's home port is Evansville, Indiana.

My father was in WWII and the LST brings the past to life. The ship even has a smell of the past. Engine room, the Bay Area of where the tanks would be hauled, and the radio room were my favorites. The tours are detailed and informative. If you like experiencing history then this is the place. They even have a gift shop

This was one thing we wanted to see as we passed through Evansville. Such a great exhibit. We were the only two people on the tour , had a retired Navy man who had crewed on the boat when they take it to different cities, a wealth of information. Please take your children/grandchildren to see this floating exhibit. It is a piece of this countries history.

I just took my 9 year old Grandson last week.It was very interesting and he had a great time and learned many new things about how much our service men do to protect our country. If you are in Evansville, Indiana this is somethong you definitely want too see.The cost is very reasonable. It was $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.Such a small amount to pay to learn about the part the LST played in the history of our country..Loved it!!

If you have the smallest interst or just what to learn a little about WWII please go here. The cost was $10 for an adult and it's well worth it. We had a guided tour of the ship by a gentleman who knew his stuff and also currently still goes out on the ship from time to time. It's really special to see something that carried our troops across the English Channel for the D-day invasion. You can see most of the ship on the tour and also other interesting things on board. If you are close to Evansville or the ship comes to your city on the river make sure you go!

This is a an actual vintage WWII landing ship tank being lovingly maintained by dedicated volunteers! It is stocked with a lot of authentic memorabilia including a Higgins boat, big deck mounted guns and actual spots where shells have pierced the ship. We enjoyed the information provided by the well informed tour guide. The tour allows for an exploration of sleeping bunks, the top deck, the wheel house, and the cavernous below deck where tanks, etc were transported to Europe and the South Pacific during WWII. This is a highly recommended experience.

This museum ship is important history for all to see. It closed at 4:00, so we came back the next morning and it was well worth it. The tour is given by retired sailors, so there are personal stories that make history come alive.

This was a great historical trip. The tour guide is very casual, but knowledgeable. Apparently the last LST in existence, it is still fully functional and takes treks down the river to other ports.
