Kind of mystical with lush ferns, trees, and many rhododendrons everywhere. Nicely maintained walking path to the overlook.

Just off the highway, wonderful falls that are a must see. If the weather is right, take the trail down towards the bottom for a different view.

We stopped by the Salt Creek Falls on our way to Crater Lake from Portland. Well worth the short walk. Unlike most waterfalls, you approach this one from the top. You can hear the water on your approach, and then you start to see the falls below you. They did a nice job with the trail so you can see the falls well.

There is a $5 day fee here - but do support our parks! The view over the falls is amazing and a bit dizzying. Only takes about 15 min to see it all - unless you want to hike down to the bottom. Beautiful shallow river DIVES over the second highest fall in Oregon. Impressive!

The second tallest waterfall in Oregon, it says, and was glad we made the trip. After a week of much driving and site seeing, I was hoping the falls would be worth the side trip. We weren't disappointed and the drive there was scenic as well.

Diamond falls is actually better in my opinion than Salt Creek falls...Diamond is a one mile hike from Salt Creek...unless you really like hiking uphill, do not continue to Fall Creek falls and Vivian lake...the trail does not go close enough to Fall Creek Falls.....Salt Creek is tall but does not have the rush of Koosah, the awe of Multnomah, or the beauty of Silver Falls

A great stop on our road-trip. Nice short hike for our family to see the fall from lower elevation. Many great photo spots along the trail with the waterfall in the background.

This falls is beautiful! It is a short walk from the parking lot with paved and rocked trails. I got some beautiful pictures from the various viewpoints next to the falls.

Great quick stop for beautiful falls and walk. Lots of parking and clean bathroom. Beautiful! Second tallest falls in Oregon. Worth the detour.

When taking non-hikers out to see water falls, this is a great option since this is wheelchair accessible. The view is fabulous and worth the drive and if time allows, make sure to hike around. If leaving Eugene headed to the falls, make a stop at some of the covered bridges and pull over at the view points.

This is a great view right in the backyard of Eugene and Springfield, Oregon! Just east of Oakridge along Hwy 58 you will find the Salt Creek Recreation area where you can take a very short, wheel chair accessible viewpoint of the falls from the top!Beautiful, and there is a path to the bottom of the falls if you want to make the trek. It's not too bad, until you get to the bottom where you are traversing over broken rock faces to make it to the very bottom. Not recommended for kids or anyone not in great shape! If you feel up to a longer hike, you can also hike to Diamond Falls from this same viewpoint, and in the winter this is a great spot for some snow play!A great family attraction in our beautiful state!

To be honest, I didn't have time to read about the history of how it formed, but there's information there that explains it. There's a wheelchair accessible observation area a couple hundred feet from the parking lot, and you can also hike down to the bottom of the falls for a more exciting view. The trail is pretty short, with a moderate incline, and is well-marked. To get there, enter the walkway from the right side of the parking lot, and then turn right once you get to the observation deck. You will go up just a little bit before going down. If you want to get close to the top of the falls, take a left instead. There are also a couple side trails there, that I didn't get to see due to time constraints. The falls are very nice, and picture-worthy. There is a $5 day-use fee there, that I think most people don't even notice unless they park near the left side. This is one of several great stops on OR-58! Also notable are Waldo Lake, Hills Creek Reservoir, Deception Creek, and Lookout Point Lake.
