Very impressed with the camping at this state park. The sites are really lovely - beautiful Maritime hammock with twisted trees and semi tropical vegetation. One night my site flooded and luckily my tent didn't leak but fortunately it drained rather quickly. Appreciated the fire pit and picnic table. The bathrooms were clean and functional. Lots of hot water. Rented a kayak one day and liked that you had a variety of kayaks to pick from. The gentlemen at the Kayak rental were very nice. Took advantage of the free WiFi at the snack shop and was pleasantly surprised the coffee was good. The beach was magnificent and very clean. Great place to walk, bike and kayak. Definitely will be back!

When you're in the St. Augustine area, make sure you save time to visit Anastasia State Park. For a small fee, you have access to miles of pristine beach. Within the park, you can rent kayaks and bikes. The camp store sells essentials and basic beach-grill food. The restrooms are clean and you can spray the sand off at outdoor showers. We were able to rent bikes for a couple of hours of beach cruising. Here's a hint; it is far better to bike at low tide:)

The camping facilities at the park are first rate. One of the few places in the St. Augustine area for tent campers. They also had a washer and drier for use at a modest fee. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Best beach in the area. You can walk for miles and get away from it all. Great food at the grill there!

We stayed for a week at this Florida state park. The weather ranged from cool at 50 degrees to wonderful at 85. We rode bikes, walked along the beach at low tide, and visited St Augustine. The facilities are very nice and clean. Wifi is available at the store area and is decent. The camp sites are quiet and look what one would imagine the "old South" would look like, live oaks, Spanish moss and magnolias.

A nice short ride from St. Augustine. Beautiful white dunes, wide stretches of the beach. Coastal area offered some birding. Also saw turtles. Loved it. And as the day was very windy and on the cold side, had all that expansive beach for myself.

We camped. So, let me speak about the campground first. It's lovely! It is not directly on the ocean. But, it is nestled under a hammock of trees nearby. It is a short 1/2 mile walk or drive to the beach. At night, with our windows open, we could definitely hear the waves:) The bathhouses were clean and adequate. No complaints there. The campsites were exceptional. The main reason we felt this way is because they are large, spacious sites with a good amount of vegetation between sites. Any other campground could make 5 sites from two at Anastasia. We will go here again and recommend it to all our friends. The trick is getting a reservation. All I can say is call early and call often. There are always cancellations. The beach itself is another review. It is gorgeous, perfectly pristine piece of land. No hotels, no condos, no homes, a state park. All it should be - preserving a natural strip of land along the coast of Florida. It is a three mile walk or bike ride north to the tip of the peninsula. Absolutely gorgeous! As we made that walk, we felt we were in another world.

Almost every single campground spot is a wow. We were in spot 84 and it was like their were no one else around. Do be careful about which site to take if you are pulling a fifth wheel with crew cab. Roads are narrow without a lot of swing room. We just barely got into site 84. The beach is a short bike ride from campground and it is just beautiful., Very wide beaches, clean and goes on and on. Campground is gated . Just lovely.

Anastasia State Park is a lovely park with excellent amenities. It s right on the beach with easy access. There is a small walking trail, a camp store, laundry in the rest rooms in the campground. It is so close to old historic St. Augustine you can walk or ride your bike. They have canoe and kayak rental and a beach wheelchair you can use for freel this park is beautiful. It is close to all amenities, restaurants, shopping, medical. You can make reservations up to eleven months in advance and you'll need to in order to secure a date. This is our first time here but won't be our last. All in all a great park in a great area. Cost efficient, easy access and close to I-95.

Great place to walk forever with only the sounds of the surf and the gulls. Once in a while there's another person. Great for solitude, natural beauty, and reflection.

Anastasia Sate Park was simply great and it has so much to offer. We've gone camping to several camp sites in Florida and this has been the best one by far, the kids loved it. Truly an awesome place.Read more: http://yuthink.com/?p=689

Came to Florida for a getaway and came here on a whim- glad we did! Close to lots of things to do. The nature trail through the old sand dunes was nice and the beach was great- wish it had been warmer but we did come in February. The bathrooms were so clean! Park rangers were all super nice.

We stayed in this park for seven nights in January. Entry is well laid out and easy to find. Rangers were friendly and check-in was rapid. Access to the ocean and the long beach was very good and we, along with many other campers, rode our bikes a good deal of the time. The sites are not all level and unless you are in one of the sites in the loop closest to the dump station, using a blue tank is really a long pull. Access into the sites is generally pretty good, although like many Florida State Parks, we found the site widens once in and is a little narrow when entering the site. We would recommend you bring leggos or wood in the even you have to level side-to-side. If you have leveling jacks that should not be a problem. Folks were bird watching, kayaking, and fishing if those are your interests. St. Augustine itself is doable by bike, although the ride into town over the drawbridge is a long one. Parking in town is very tight. We found if we paid for the trolley tour which is good for two days in a three day period, we could park at the trolley stand and that worked out very well for us. We always enjoy the trolley as you can get off and on at multiple stops and it runs all day long so we feel it is a bargain.Staying in January means the weather is variable and we had a couple of windy days and one that was quite cold. This park is not far enough north to be considered if you are looking for warm winter weather. The upside, of course, was the city was not crowded as it would be once the kids are out of school.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and definitely intend to return!

If you love natural splendor and a little isolation from the rest of the world, then plan a relaxing stop at Anastasia State Park. An easy hop from St. Augustine the four miles of untouched coastline mean privacy between the surf and the dunes. A few short trails through hammocks offer reprieve from the beach sun and a little lesson about the area ecosystem.

Unfortunately this february was extremely cold and windy, however there are so many beaches to visit, the island is long and there are places for every taste. I'm planing to go again in July or August next year.
