It's the best when it isn't a holiday or weekend. You can really connect with nature and all it's beauty..

Pitch a tent, drive in your RV and enjoy the outdoors. Wonderful biking and running trails. Winter time bring the cross country skis or snowmobiles. In the summer a great place for a family picnic or reunion. Want to take a family hike or just walk the dog this place is great.

Lots to do, hike, rent water toys, very nice. It's a great place to bike. Would like to spend more time there.

The fall leaves on the trail are worth going for. We spent a few hours hiking and taking in all the beautiful colors. Stayed to watch the sunset on the water. Simply wonderful!

My husband and I love to camp here for the weekend. It's close and beautiful! There's lots to do. Last time we were here, we went bike riding, paddle boating and hiking. The park is beautiful. They even have a camp store where they sell honey that is made from a hive in the state park. And the best part, it's open all year. So we can get an early or later in the season (if we want to) weekend in.

We stayed here for a weekend of camping . There's lots of trails for hiking, great places for fishing from the shore. The campground has clean bathrooms, a nice playground, and a great little camp store.

Lots of space to picnic, hike, bike, walk, fish, or swim. Very well maintained park that is free of riff- raff.

The only thing I liked about this state park was away from the campground. It is pretty. There was only one camp site that was worth camping at where it overlooked the water and was a bit private. All the other sites are completely open. The part of the lake in the camping area was muddy muck. Not worth the money, and if you want to swim you have to cross the interstate and pay an additional fee.

We camped for 3 nights over the 4th of July. Campground was pretty quiet and clean. We hiked the trail around the lake, it was just the right length, but due to the storms in Illinois this spring, it was a bit muddy in spots. We rented Kayaks for two hours and that was great! We attended a raptor presentation which was very informative and amazing! Other people have mentioned the "traffic noise from I90, we could not hear it at all. We could, however, here noise from the raceway located nearby for about one hour on Friday and one hour on Saturday. We will definitely return to Rock Cut.

We camped here for 2 nights last weekend. We came in about 11:00 without reservations on a Friday and got lucky as there were a few sites left. There are several camping loops. Some of the loops are more open than others. The other sites were wooded or partly wooded. We found our area to be quiet. Outhouses are scattered throughout the loops. There are 2 shower houses that could have been cleaner. The trails were marked but using the camp brochure we found the trails hard to follow. There is a fishing/boating lake and a swimming lake. There is an admission charged to swim. We will return as this is close to home.

We've just bought a teardrop camper, and Rock Cut was our first trip, in mid-May. IL parks are free to enter (Crazy! Legislature, you need to fund the part through entrance fees!!) and camping only $35/night (includes electricity for the camper, also available, dump station). The park is really lovely, wonderful to hike and quiet despite the location so close to the freeway. Free wifi is available at the little consession store (imperative for me; I was teaching in an on-line course during that time), so that was a perk as well.A very nice, large open space close to the city of Chicago. We will be back!

Good place to relax for hill deprived Chicagoans. There are two lakes - one for boating the other one for swimming. The swimming lake - Olson - a bit mucky.

This is a very well maintained State Park with hiking, picnic areas, boat launching or rental and fishing. Illinois does not charge you to enter the park, which is a nice perk. The area is beautiful and a great place to spend a day.

I love coming to Rock Cut for a short day-hike. It's a fairly easy hike around a beautiful lake with lots of wildlife to spot along the way. My only complaint is that the trails can be very hard to follow if you haven't been there before. They are not very well-marked and often peter out in an open field and pick up on the other side with no clear indication of where the trail is in-between. However, once you have been there it's pretty easy to pick out the trails. There are port-a-potty type bathrooms along the way, but there is also a nice, clean restroom facility at the concessions and boat launch area if, like me, you prefer the luxury of flush toilets. I would recommend this park for anyone who wants an easy, scenic walk around the lake.
