We drove from the Picos to Galicia and stayed for about a week in San Xenxo. It is very easydriving in this Province in differing landscapes. We liked Cambados, a pleasant and smallishvillage by the sea. It has a truly grand plaza.Somehow, by accident perhaps, we eventually found ourselves driving down to the seasideresort of San Xenxo, where we stayed in a private house in the main street for about a week.It was there at a small café/restaurant that we became "hooked" on pulpo, which became ourstarter, followed by merluza and boiled pots. It was all delicious and not that expensive.

We had never gone to Sanxenxo in the summer, but what we got was lovelly white sand, clear water, and lots of fishes. What a wonderfull time we had.

There are showers by the entrance paths. The sand is clean and nice laying on. The water here in summer is not that cold, good for even long swimming, you don't need to walk much to have neck water level.

Lovely safe beach, can get a bit busy in August (although still quiet when compared to the Med). There are a couple of nice bars along the beach where you can eat.

Sanxenxo out of season is tranquil, peaceful and has a quietness that often eludes Spain. We stayed in a small namely between sanxenxo and com barro. Our view was of the river estuary and all around are tiny beaches and woodland and lush greenery. From our balcony we saw dolphins playing in the estuary, diving in and out of the Barras, where the fishermen work their seafood stocks. If you want a quiet break before the summer starts this is the place. The weather was wonderful, but we were lucky. Try it, it's worth the drive. Prices are very good this time of year too. The food is not bad and the people are very proud of their wines, in three weeks we did not hear one English voice. It is a land that stands still in time, until next month.

the sand and the water were very clean, but the water could be more warm ;)

I have been here for about a month now for an intership I am doing with school. It's a small safe town, which I like. There's not much to do and it is pricey. Overall, I would recommend saying only a few days.
