We stayed very near to the river, all of the sights are within easy reach, lots of nice bars along the river front too. Interesting to see the decay and beauty alongside each other, nice to see that rejuvenation is taking place. Loads of beautiful old buildings all striving to reach the sky.

Perfect place for strolling and taking pictures, Zona Ribeirinha is always full os people (locals and tourists) walking around and having a good time. If you want to experience Portugal for real, you have to walk in the margin of River D'Oro.

take a walk along the riverside to see why this is city is now a world heritage site. Lively and colourful during the day and at night.

Very pretty, got some cracking pictures even though it rained pretty much the whole time I was there.

Great for photos at all times of day and night. Cumulation of many tourist attractions in a relatively small area. If you have not too much time for sightseeing then you better start from here, as you should not miss this place.

This is the most valuable postcard from Oporto! In this area you can see both sides of the Douro river and the traditional boats, which transported in the past, the grapes to make the Oporto wine.

Porto's Ribeira is fantastic when you visit it in place and delightful to watch just accross, from Gaia's border. From there, Porto seems one of the best cities in the world. Which in reality is.

...views of all the colourful housesamong Porto's most popular areas and there is a reason whya little jewel in the crown

Amazing! Great views of Gaia and the the bridge. Ribeirinha is an ancient section of Porto. Really special. It will take you back hundreds of years. There are alot of Restaurants and there is a market as well. These little alleys and steps are filled with old school charm, that you will imagine being a character of the 1600 or 1700s. Enjoy

Imagine visiting a middle age city where everything is beautifully conserved and where you will find whatever you need. That city is the old Oporto city and now one of the most ancient city areas in Europe. Sit by the Douro river, where you ca not miss its several boat cruises, Ribeira, the name of this old part of Oporto, is still proud of its routes as people keep their so typical way of living as well as live happily with tourist that visit it everyday. In Ribeira do lost yourself around the very narrow streets, as it it safe everywhere - but you would rather not do it during night time -, and find very interesting typical shops, good restaurants and bars, special in summer time, and always friendly people always happy to help you out with anything. Once in Ribeira do walk the Eiffel bridge - yeah, the same from Paris - and cross to the other side for a magnificent view of Oporto and a not-to-be-misse Oporto Wine Caves visit. As Ribeira is very close to center Porto you can walk up a little bit throughout various streets - RUA DAS FLORES - so to get amazed with the so typical and contemporary general offer.Ribeira does worth your visit. It is not as any other old town.Special hint: walk up to the old city walls for an an amazing scenery.

So many lovely old buildings. Wander around and get lost. Lots of tourist shops and not too expensive. Many places to eat. The further away from the river the cheaper the meals.

If you look apart from the ever flowing crowds of people, you can easily enjoy marvelous architecture and concentrated Porto experience. Yet, I'd avoid the restaurants there since they're quite overcrowded and in the upward streets you can find much more tranquility and quality.

The riverfront area is a nice place to take an afternoon stroll before or after a River Duoro cruise; however, all of the restaurants are overpriced tourist traps. The prices here are certainly better than mainland Europe but if you take your time and walk throughout the neighborhood streets you can find quality food at even better prices. The riverfront is not a very big area and you can walk from Pont de Luis bridge to Henry the Navigators house in less than 10 minutes at a very leisurely pace. Other than a nice walk and getting a refreshing drink on a warm afternoon, there is not much to the Ribeirinha.
