After living in Amsterdam for 8 years, I finally visited the Our Lord in the Attic church/museum. A very charming church hidden in the attic of an Amsterdam canal house. The audio tour was very informative and walking around this 17th century building really takes you back to a very different time. Allocate an hour and a half so you can soak in the special peaceful vibe of the church. Worth visiting even if renovation is ongoing.

This was a lovely place to see and a great surprise to my friends. I had seen reviews on tripadvisor and had planned to visit on our recent trip. We were delighted to have seen this beautiful place. It really is worth a visit. A hand held monitor for you to hear the information about each room as you toured the attic was a great idea as you could visit each room at your leisure.A must see in Amsterdam.

If you like architecture, a good story and something a bit different this place is for you. It was really impressive inside and once in the attic it's unbelievable. You work your way up through the old house winding your way up and down the original stairs. You get a audio device to tell the story which is well worth it.My advise for anyone new to Amsterdam is get a map check the location of the museum and mark it on as it's not the easiest to find. However with the map really easy.

It is an odd concept - a church organ in an attic. Worth an hour of your time for sheer novelty value

Fascinating place; we visited about one hour before closing time and there were only a handful of people there. Besides the "secret" church there are other rooms showing 17th century living. Some bits are not open at the moment due to major building works to improve visitor facilities.

This is a memorable museum, currently being renovated and expanded. It is so interesting to understand the context for the chapel, contained in the attic of this canal house. There is an interesting audio tour and the house has recently been restored. We were lucky enough (I would not usually enjoy being there with a student group) to hear secondary school students making presentations about the chapel for an assignment - it provided interesting background for us. There is quite a good little shop, too. However, construction is underway, and there will be a passage to connect it to another house, on the other side of the adjacent alley. The 2nd house will contain the office and shop, plus explanatory exhibits. So, once the work is finished, the current building space will just be for visitors to see the restored canal house and the chapel within. This was a museum like none I've seen - maybe the entrance price was a bit steep for what's currently on offer, plus a few things were off-limits due to renovation work. But ultimately I didn't begrudge it and I'm glad we visited. It's on the edge of the red light district and quite near the central station - so fairly easy to find.

I don't know that I'd pay to go in but it's free with the museum card. If you're in the neighborhood it's worth a quick peek. I wouldn't trek too far out of my way for it though. Free audio tour is nice for the explanations. It's kind of interesting.

This bijou museum is an amazing example of a hidden church touched away inside a series of neighbouring canal-side houses. I recommend the audio guide and they work on the principle of pointing them close to an information point, so you can discover the history of the place at your own pace. €9 is a reasonable entry fee and they are currently looking at refurbishing a nearby property which will have a visitors centre etc, so it will be interesting to go back when this is complete. All in all, a little gem, hidden away in the Red Light district.

Although we had read about this before we went, it was amazing to actually see for ourselves the church hidden away inside an ordinary building. Showed the power of people's beliefs.

This should be on anyone's must-do list when visiting Amsterdam. I was expecting a small covert church behind a secret door, but this is a full sized church in the roof space of the three houses below. The tour is self-guided with an audio device giving commentary at key points. Highly recommended.
