La cità bianca ! Puglia is the best place to go in Italy ! The water is very clean ,the beach is awesome and the people are very receptive! Not forget to visit the nearby towns such as Lecce ,Gallipoli and Brindisi :) Must buy 1 souvenir!!!

Amidst the winding and picturesque alleys of the 'white city' of Ostuni stands the very impressive Duomo. You don't expect to find such an outstanding cathedral in a little town, well maintained, preserved and cultivated. Worth a short climb in the alleys and one Euro you should pay to enter.

Ostuni's gem is La Citta' Bianca, the old town defended by its whitewashed walls on a hill overlooking the "sea" of olive groves bordering the unspoilt Adriatic coast. In order to explore its narrow steets you have to climb via Cattedrale starting on piazza Sant'Oronzo, the town's main square. As indicates its name it will lead you, after some efforts and after passing by numerous palaces and the baroque San Vito church (now a museum), to Ostuni Cathedral, the highest point of the old town. While, as for many churches, its late modified inside disappoints a bit, the XVth century structure of the cathedral is admirable, especially its remarkable front porch with is amazing rose window,.... and it is surrounded by several beautiful palaces, the bishop's on piazza Cattedrale or those of noble families on the adjacent streets.

It's simply breathtaking that here in Italy, when you turn a corner not expecting much there is something stunning. And this was very much the case with the duomo di ostuni, completely unexpected, completely wonderful!

Stunning church in the middle of town great square with good restaurants and watch the world go by, during the day it,s empty and loads of places shut in the evening there is a great buzz around the place.

There are much more charming and interesting, old cities nearby. After visiting Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino one can judge better the atmosphere of Ostuni. For us Ostuni was boring and much less appealing than the other cities.

Ostuni is a stunner. Established in the 1stC AD, the old town is almost too good to be true: it is an ideal­ised fusion of cobbled alleys winding through white­washed houses, charming 15thC cathedral, and buzzing social scene, centered on Colonna di S. Oronzo, a fine 18thC obelisk, at the Piazza della Libertà.

Lovely walk uphill from the piazza on mostly-pedestrian Via Cathedrale to the Cathedral near the top. Beautiful rose window well worth the walk, and a nice little piazza in front.

I dont know if people realise there is a big kind of museum that is accessed through the churchopening times are a bit strange from memory a lot of restoration work done last few years shops, winding tiny streets , fastastic restaurants , the place only starts to get going after 11pm in the summer

Beautiful town to visit with so many little cobbled streets, The Cathedral was absolutely amazing but was a bit disappointed that we could not look inside. Some lovely little individual shops and lots of places to eat, The views from the top towards the sea were stunning.

Lovely town to visit so many small side streets to investigate (dont forget the shoe shops - most of the group bought summer sandals!)

The Cathedral is beautiful and located at the end of a piazza but the fun experience had to do with a group of middle school children from Lecce who were on a day outing and were sitting on the steps. As I started up the steps to enter the church they noticed me and started asking questions in broken English. Where was I from, what was it like to live in California, does the sun shine every day, does it ever rain, etc. And, finally, did I have a house big enough for them to all come live with me! They all wanted t take a "selfie" with me. They were all so cute, nicely dressed, polite, and all had cell phones or cameras. I have a picture of a few of them but it is a fond memory.

A few hours it is all you need to visit this town. Promoted by a lot of tour books and sites, but not the greatest place in Puglia.The Duomo charged a small admission, but not worth it.

We spent 5 weeks in Puglia. As we had friends coming to stay we went into Ostuni many times, and my advice is to visit the old town which will take no more than an hour and perhaps another hour if you go to the Museum. Parking is a nightmare especially on weekends (Saturday market makes it impossible). The old town, up 1 narrow steep street is worth seeing, but the only time we paid an entrance fee to go into a church was here - 1E. There are much more charming towns to visit in the area. Highly recommended is a morning or afternoon in Martina Franca, a Baroque jewel. A visit on Sunday after church (around noon) in Locorotondo is well worth it for the lively atmosphere in its beautiful old town. Lecce deserves at least a half day. Cisternino, where we based ourselves has a tiny but charming centre and there is a good cafe and restaurant on the square. Remember that in Puglia the shops shut from around 12.30 to at least 4.00pm so you will find all the towns dead during this time - just a few restaurants open at lunch-time!!- all the activity happens morning and late afternoon into the night.
