My wife and I were fortunate to be recommended to visit the Douraki winery. Andreas Douraki built this place from scratch with the best machines/material available and spared no expense. I had found his wine before in a great Xanià restaurant and was eager to see where it's made. We were given a tasting of 5 different wines and they even serve a warm meal upon request. Afterwards we visited the production process. I can only say: The Douraki wines are excellent quality at a great price. The place is spotless and the quality of the wine is only matched by the warm hospitality of Andreas and Evie. Thank you so much for bringing the Cretan wine history back to life.

We specially came to visit the winery by the recommendation of our hosts from the hotel, where we spent a brilliant time. Before coming back home we decided to buy some wine and experience the wine making process. However, we faced the disappointment, because only big groups are expected, and if you are only two or three do not flatter yourself, in the best case and in a hurry you will get to try just right away, by the counter, one or two kinds of wine having a same atmosphere as in the pub. This all will lead a big manager’s busyness and aversion to show or tell something. Is it worth to go in this winery, if in an ordinary market place you can buy wines from the same winery with identical price, however the assortment of wines may be far bigger. All in all, the spoiled mood due to such a ‘warm welcome’ can be guaranteed!
