A beautiful place to walk on a hot day. The gardens have a long history with input from William Guilfoyle who according to Google was the architect of Melbourne Botanical Gardens. The walkways beneath the huge trees, especially on a hot day are relaxing. The views of Lake Bullen Merri and Lake Gnotuk from the lookout next to the gardens are amazing.

We had a nice stroll around at sunset, good photo location and awesome views over lakes. Watch out for cranky Maggie during nesting season!!!

February 2014 was the date and the rose gardens the venue for our important day. The scenery from the gardens out across the two volcano lakes is nothing short of breathtaking and worth stopping for when travelling through the South West of Victoria.

There's a lot of local historical interest here: check the statuary and informative plaques and signs. Fine outlooks too. And some magnificent old trees and other cool-climate plantings. Access is odd, as an earlier reviewer comments, but once you are inside the fences you feel as if you're in a significant survival from colonial times. In cool weather it's windy up there, and as it is not a manicured, pristine garden you should wear walking shoes and watch your footing if you're an older/frailer visitor.

A little gem off the main route , great views of the town and lakes. Access is via the Caravan / cabin Park [ the cabins are good for a short stay ]

the gardens aren't very big but at nicely kept and the outlook over the lakes is lovely on a sunny day!

Pretty basic garden, but overlooking the two crater lakes. Just weird that you have to go through a holiday park/camp. The sign going to the botanical garden is soooo small, we missed it twice. So best to look for the camp in the GPS.

This is a hidden gem of the Western District, beautiful specimen trees in gorgeous parkland with views to die for

Lovely gardens mainly a tree garden. Not on google maps, drive through the caravan park and the entrance is at the rear of the park. Great views of the lakes

Another quick stop / leg stretcher along the road. Small gardens, nice view over the lake and very clean. For the area, this could be a 4 but compared to some of the world's botanical gardens this gets a 3.
