Went for a stroll around the gardens & was delighted with the layout & the care taken, it was lovely. Didn't realise there was a café there. I would like to go back & try something from the menu as it looked delicious & was very busy.

The gardens are very well maintained, nice green grass, lot's of space to relax & take in your surroundings. Plenty of walking tracks, outdoor areas to exercise & panels of information along the way. Worth a stop in at!

This garden to other botanic gardens you have been to. Its like comparing apples and oranges. Mackay is a different part of the world and so you can expect different things. Even though it is a regional centre, this botanic garden is fantastic! The whole concept, layout and design, well I can say that I was impressed. You basically walk through themed areas with a focus on different types of flora indigenous to not only Mackay, but also the tropical north Queensland, and the rest of world. We saw a little possum asleep in the roofing just above the cafe and gallery. Plus a snake skin hanging on the rafters. So wildlife is quite active and busy, and you'll no doubt see something if you keep your eyes peeled. The gift shop is tiny, but what you see around you in flora dollars is worth much more. Take home some great moments, photos and memories. Another free place to visit in Mackay!

This is a lovely place to wander around and the cafe serves good food and coffee on the deck. The walks are beautiful but the "sharing the footpath with snakes" signs are a bit off putting! I suspect they are not dangerous and the locals know this but more needs to be said to clear matters up for a visitor from afar.

Loved the variety of plants and birdlife and walkways set on the side of river/wetlands.There is a nice cafe to sit and have a coffee and enjoy the view over the water and over the canefields.

Lots of paths to follow for exercising. Not the most extravagant or beautiful of botanic gardens - but for swamp land its nice. Birdlife is interesting and plentiful.

The gardens don't seem as established as ones I've visited previously, but there is a nice variety of different types of gardens. There's also an amazing amount of birdlife. Just watch out for the snakes.

Mackay Botanical gardens are a wonderful place to relax , walking the formed paths and viewing the different sections of the gardens , there is also an area that has some great exhibits adjacent to the information centre. Treat yourself to some peace and solitude then afterward enjoy some coffee at the cafe.Peter B.

Mum and I really enjoyed visiting these beautiful gardens and walking along the picturesque pathways. The native trees are out in bloom at present and we saw many birds including the kingfisher. The turtles were also sun baking on the logs. After our walk we had a coffee in the cafe - good service and good lunch menu. Well worth a visit!

Mackay is spoiled for choice with great lunch options. Not many of them can boast the vista this one can. The meals area always fresh and tasty and we haven't missed yet with the staff. Definitely one to include on your lunch rotation.

I can't believe that I lived in Mackay for 3 years before discovering the beauty of this place. The gardens are vast and have a huge selection of trees, plants and wildlife. Everything is immaculate and the scenery is breath taking.Free outdoor fun so get fit and take in the surroundings.

I have watch the mackay regional botanic gardens take shape over the years since it's inception. Fabulous location, wonderful venue for events, families and those that want to spent time in nature

Great access to these gardens as we were able to ride our bikes through the park and stop and look closely when we needed to.

Love coming here. We visit for a variety of reasons. Dog walks, bike rides, picnics, charity walks, christmas carols... a great verstaile space with lots of things to do. There is a kids playground & 2 toilet blocks now which is handy.
