Not easy to find. Halfway down there is a sharp right hand bend. You are better off leaving your car at this point and walking down to the beach through the trees as the last mile beyond this point is really DIABOLICAL.Once you get there the beach is lovely and there are toilets and refreshment facilities as well as the usual trinket vendors.

private beach, white sand, took a little getting to the beach, but the trip was well worth it, my family loved it, kids played in the water all day, had no problem getting them to bed later that evening

Visited Winnifred Beach today. We ate at Tome Yard one of the beach shacks there. For a very reasonable price we had a red snapper and a lion fish with vegetable rice. Staff were friendly, nice atmosphere. No hassle just ok people. Beach is constantly swept and kept clean. Swimming fine also snorkelling, yes some sea urchins. Felt a safe place to be.

Lovely quite scenic beach just within distance from the apartments in Mikuzi. You would almost think your on a private beach

In comparing Winnifred, Boston, and long bay beaches:Winnifred: this one was overall the best. Beautiful views and a decent (but not plentiful) amount of sand to sit on. Friendly locals who provide coconuts (drinking and eating) and can cook food in their places on the beach. The "cleaning contribution" they ask for upon arrival is apparently not working as I saw a couple broken bottles. 4 stars.Boston bay: the touts are more aggressive here then the others. But I would say the view is the best of the three. The sand here is more powdery then the others, yet the water is very clear (makes for good photos). This beach is good for swimming due to fewer rocks under the water than the others. An obvious advantage of this beach is the jerk shacks at the entrance (Boston bay is the home of jerk chicken). 4 starsLong bay beach: I wasn't impressed with this one. There were many buildings damaged by hurricanes on the beach that weren't repaired. There was also a lot of garbage on the beach. The advantage here is plenty of sand to sit on (the other two only have a small amount). 2 stars for this one.I went to all three in the same day as route taxis were widely available and cheap.

It was very refreshing to visit this beach. It was my first time there (2nd time in Jamaica) and I can't wait to go back. I have fun with the kids burying ourselves in the sand and there was a Lil boat ride attraction where you get into a speed boat and make jumps. I didn't do it but it was fun to watch.

So happy to have experienced Winnifred Beach. Clean, pleasant, multiple nationalities, no harassment, no loud music, lots of children playing!

The breeze was cool, lot of beautiful ladies. The food stalls had different foods, very delicious, the color of the water of the beach is blue. The long line of trees provide shade.

This was our favourite beach in Portland. This beach is free for all (although you can give a small donation to help keep the beach clean) so there are a nice mix of locals and tourists here. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was really nice seeing Jamaican families with their children on the beach (the kind of atmosphere you just don't get at a private beach like Frenchman's Cove).

very beautiful public beach, clean, nice white sand beach..few locals around but not pushy.. not crowded ..relaxing.. true feel of Jamaica :)

Liked that it is a wide expanse of sand. Hike to get to from the road. BEWARE sea urchins. They are abundant and you can't avoid them easily.

very pretty sandy bay / beach. Best in mornings, in the afternoon there is not that much sunshine. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Free, but you can give small "donation" to guy and entry. The road there is bumpy dirt road but manageable with normal car if you're a good driver.

Best beach I've seen in Jamaica. The beach is public, clean and the water is just perfect. Perfect spot to chill out with friends or family!

The water is pristine and beautiful. You will need to ask for directions to go "up the hill and down the hill" to get here.Once you arrived, you are good for a full day. There are a few vendors that sells food on the beach. we had already stopped off at Boston Jerk Center before coming here so I din't get to try out the food. There was one vendor at the very end of the beach that was cooking up a storm. The aroma was appealing even though I was full. There is a vendor there that sell some unique Jamaican jewelry. I purchased a bracelet that was made from the poinciana seed. My girlfriend bought bracelets that were from some red bean also native to Jamaica. I like the fact that the vendor is using natural native raw materials to create his jewelry instead of buying beads from other countries and selling it. I regret in only buying 1 bracelet. There are no lockers, change rooms or showers. There is a small running river that you can dip in to rinse off the salt water. The people in Port Antonio are the friendliest we have met.We have been to all the parishes.

Gorgeous blue water and sand to sit on. A beach restaurant on the sand for snacks and several vendors, so it's not secluded, but it is fun.
